We started because the businesses we worked for outgrew every piece of software we put in front of them. Custom was the only answer. It still is.
BasicData started as an internal IT and development team for a group of trading businesses. The software we built to run their operations attracted outside interest, and in 2018 we incorporated formally and started taking on external clients. We haven't had a client leave since.
We've worked across retail, financial services, energy, agriculture, food manufacturing, and professional services. The common thread isn't the industry. It's the same problem: operations that have outgrown their software.
We don't do discovery theatre.
A lot of software companies show you a slick sales deck, take a high-level brief, and disappear for six months. We work differently. Every project starts with deep scoping. We sit with your operators, not just your steering committee, until we understand the work the way they do. What gets built reflects that.
We're also honest about fit. If your problem is better solved by a different tool, or if an off-the-shelf solution would serve you better than a custom build, we'll say so. We'd rather lose a project than deliver something that doesn't work.

I founded BasicData because the operational challenges worth solving were always too complex for off-the-shelf answers, and I still lead every client engagement from the front.
I have spent over 15 years building operational solutions on FileMaker. I am solution-driven by nature. I do not let go of a problem until it is properly solved. My clients' success is what I measure my work against, and I do not consider something done until they do.
I am methodical by nature. I dig into the data, analyse the problem thoroughly, and identify the root cause before I touch a solution. New technologies energise me. The harder the challenge, the better.
My job is to make sure the software we build is as good to use as it is to run. I create user-rich experiences for software people actually depend on, structured and considered, built around the people who use them every day. Creative by nature, organised by discipline. Every design decision has a reason.
I have over 13 years of experience developing solutions built around the unique needs of each client I work with. I work methodically and take care to make sure what gets built fits the way the business actually operates. Every detail matters.
I bring over 10 years of FileMaker development experience to every project I work on. I believe good solutions start with understanding exactly what the client needs. Getting it right matters more to me than getting it done fast.
